Ioannis E. Nikolaou is assistant professor of Corporate Environmental Management and Performance in the Department of Environmental Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace. He received his MSc degree in Environmental Policy and Management in 2000 from the University of the Aegean. In 2006 he obtained his PhD degree in corporate sustainability accounting as a tool to measure corporate sustainability performance in the Department of Environmental Studies at University of the Aegean under the supervision of professor Konstantinos Sophoulis. He primarily worked at University of the Aegean (Departments of Geography and Environmental Studies), Technical Educational Institution of Zakynthos and Hellenic Open University. In 2009 he was employed as Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace. His current work focuses on linking knowledge based view of firms with corporate environmental management and engineering as well as to develop essential system dynamic models to explain strategic alliances of firms to face contemporary environmental challenges. In particular, his research interests are as follows:

Ioannis E. Nikolaou has authored or co-authored more the 12 book chapter, 1 book and 35 research papers; some in peer review journals including Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Hazardous Material.
